3 simple examples how to write concise content on your website
Concise written content is real plus for your website, but it’s tricky if you’re not a writer by nature.
Like me. I’m not a writer – I’m a website designer and coder. But I’ve learnt so much from building websites, and writing our own website. For me, seeing examples of how to write better content is the best way to learn.
I’ll share simple examples, showing an original sentence and how to make it more concise.
Example 1: concise written content for a social media manager’s website.
Aim: to focus on highlighting the benefits and services directly.
Original Sentence:
“In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, it’s essential for entrepreneurs to have a strong social media presence, and my services are designed to cater to the unique needs of small businesses, ensuring you stay competitive in the market..”
Concise Version:
“Stay competitive with our tailored social media services.”
Explanation: The concise version conveys the main message about staying competitive with tailored social media services without the explanation about the fast-paced digital landscape, making it more direct and focused.
The focus is on highlighting the benefits and services directly.
Example 2: concise written content for a business coach’s website.
Aim: convey the coach’s message more directly.
Original Sentence: “If you’re feeling stuck in your personal or professional life, my coaching can provide you with the tools and strategies that can help you overcome challenges and move forward.”
Concise Version: “Overcome challenges and move forward with personalised coaching.”
Explanation: By focusing on the action (“Overcome challenges” and “move forward”) and removing unnecessary phrases, the sentence becomes more encouraging and motivating for individuals seeking coaching services.
In these examples, the removal of filler words helps convey the coach’s message more directly and inspires potential clients to consider her services for personal and professional growth.
Example 2: concise written content for a website business website (😂).
Aim: maintaining a personal tone while delivering a clear and direct message.
Original Sentence:
“If you’re a small business owner who’s feeling a bit nervous about getting a website up and running, we have some super helpful tips that can really assist you.”
Concise Version: “Nervous about your website? Our tips can help small business owners like you.”
Explanation: By removing unnecessary phrases like “if you’re a solopreneur who’s feeling a bit”, the message becomes more direct and easier to grasp quickly.
Bonus Tip: use AI to help
I used ChatGPT to help write this blog about concise written content. It’s a great tool to help make your website content more concise.
It doesn’t always get it right. In this example, removing “that” makes the sentence nonsensical…
- Original Sentence: “I have a coaching technique that can help you overcome your fears and achieve success in your personal and professional life.”
- Concise Version: “I have a coaching technique can help you overcome your fears and achieve success in your personal and professional life.”
Remember – AI is a tool, not a complete solution.
