3 week coast-to-coast trip across the USA:

🌊 a few days beside the sea on Long Island (homage to my favourite book, The Great Gatsby)

🌇 art, architecture and food in New York, Chicago and LA 😍

🏞️ scenery and reading on sleeper trains 🚂 across 10 states

🌌 glamping in the Utah desert under dark star-filled (🤞) skies 🏜️

🌊 and some Californian 🌅 before heading home

I’ll no doubt share some stories, but won’t be posting till end of May. Fred won’t be doing any support or emails, but will regularly check that all our websites are 👌.

🔺ESSENTIALS FOR ANY TYPEFACE ON YOUR WEBSITE 🔺

Make sure you choose any typeface you choose has at least 4 font variations:

🔺 Regular (or sometimes 300)
🔺 Bold (sometimes 700)
🔺 Italic
🔺 Bold Italic

Using bold and italic within your content (for short phrases) really helps readers navigate a page 🙂.

If your chosen typeface doesn’t have these different fonts (or files, as I rather confusingly say in the reel…😳) built into it, it won’t be possible 😞.

The only exception (isn’t there always one?!) is your Site Title typeface. This will only be used specifically for this, so a single font is fine.

If you’re confused about typeface v. font, you’re not alone. They’re often used incorrectly (by me too 😂).

Correct usage:

🔺A TYPEFACE is the whole design.

E.g. ARIEL is a typeface.

🔺A FONT is the specific weight and style within a typeface.

E.g. ARIEL 16pt BOLD is a font (file) within the Ariel typeface family.

SAVE for when you’re choosing your website typefaces - or if you realise you need to change them!

Pleeeeeease 🙏 can you make your wonderful funny and valuable content easy to read for those of us 🙋‍♀️ whose eyesight isn’t the best?

Sometimes content written on a desktop looks lovely and clear, but, on a mobile screen, it’s just too titchy. Or too pale. Or both 😱.

And that means we either squint 😠 or scroll…😔.

The easier content is to read, the more we’ll ❤️.
